Protecting our night skies Light pollution is erasing our view of the stars. The North East’s dark skies are now among the last truly pristine ones in England, and remain at risk from increased skyglow.
Boosting our tourism & visitor economy Dark skies tourism is one of the fastest-growing visitor experiences. The festival extends the season, attracting people during quieter months.
Wellbeing & connection Stargazing encourages reflection, mindfulness, and a sense of wonder – something we could all use a bit more of.
Education & inspiration From astronomy to conservation, the festival will bring science to life and spark curiosity.
